iPhone fans in Singapore will be licking their lips at the announcement that the latest 4.0 version may be available here as early as next month.

In separate announcements that came after Apple’s unveiling of its latest generation smartphone, Starhub and M1 both said they will have the handset on sale “within the next few months”.

The iPhone 4 may be available in Singapore as early as next month.

The iPhone 4 may be available in Singapore as early as next month.

SingTel too is “in the final stages of discussions with Apple” to bring the iPhone 4.0 to Singapore.

Singapore was listed among the 17 countries that would be receiving shipments next month during a presentation by  Apple chief Steve Jobs at the Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday.

While the iPhone 4 is being priced at US$199 (S$280) to US$299 in the United States, local prices have yet to be announced.

Apple’s latest iPhone boasts a front-facing video camera, better video-editing functions, a sleeker look and longer battery life among over 100 new features from the current iPhone 3.

The launch of the new iPhone will enable Apple to be able to fend off Google’s Android-powered smartphones like the the Sprint HTC Evo 4G.

Do you plan to get your hands on the latest iPhone and if so, which newest feature impresses you most?

hw will it cost? If not sign up any plan? just the phone itself? will it be very expensive?

  13. Against Racism on June 9, 2010 at 8:51 am

I hope is a reasonable price like the US with existing subscribers regardless of service provider and also for people who just want to buy the phone with no contract. I do realised that Spore’s phone price is always a ripped off! Why does Spore always have to price their products price way over the top, why can’t they price it at an affordable range like everybody else does?!

Check ou M1 first. Believe me. It is the only Telco who care about Singaporeans. I do not work for M1 but many have failed to check what they offer.

iphone 4 is not iphone4G….4G network is not available yet here so please do not start thinking that it is running on a 4G technology. Iphone 4, “4″ is just the model number…like Audi A4, Audi A6

  20. Joanne on June 9, 2010 at 9:04 am

For 3G and 3GS users, if i’m not wrong, there will be a new software for you to upgrade to soon..
Its almost the same as iphone 4.
Just that your phone won’t have the front camera, LED flash and longer battery life..
But applications will be almost what iphone 4 have.. :)

  21. muff on June 9, 2010 at 9:05 am

    4G = 4th generation, not network type
Sold locally next month? I think very tough as ipad is still pending its availability locally.

  22. Kin on June 9, 2010 at 9:11 am

But it is using Microsim right? I will have a problem switching to my NS phone.

  23. TT on June 9, 2010 at 9:13 am

Wow, seems like the world finds it hard to catch up with technology!
It would be good to get hold of one but before you learn to use all its features and get the hang of it, then iPhone 5 may launch next year?? Btw, the features look good despite the fact that many of these features are already available in other brands of phones as stated by the papers today.
I guess the price would be steep in Singapore.

  24. Samreaper on June 9, 2010 at 9:17 am

I would love to get my hand on the iphone 4.0 :) with interesting new features such at the ibooks and such but the face time video conferencing only use Wifi connection but not on 3G ( according to the apple website). It would be utter disappointment because video call should be on both platforms.

  25. soya on June 9, 2010 at 9:23 am

microsim is the same as normal sim card, you can just cut away the bottom without the meter area to fit it in. tested no problem.

  26. aikon on June 9, 2010 at 9:24 am

Another iphone with no real improvement to suck your blood again. Video call is nothing new.

  27. BabeatWork on June 9, 2010 at 9:29 am

    Longer battery life….

  28. voa on June 9, 2010 at 9:32 am

go to star hub it is the best it have the last phone in us it is 5g just $1725 good to use it have inter net all games

  29. Kani on June 9, 2010 at 9:34 am

It’s like ipad mini cause they both have a4 chip in it, definitely must get

  30. Ling on June 9, 2010 at 9:34 am

With the new software upgrade, previous old models of Iphone will be able to use it and upgrade. Other than that, I see not much difference unless you really want to be in the NEW crowd of owning the latest Iphone. Otherwise, I think previous models like the 3G & 3Gs works just fine.

  31. John on June 9, 2010 at 9:35 am

Some good questions raised here. Does Singapore have G4 network capability? If not, then when will it be available? If that doesn’t happen soon then what’s the point to own a true G4 network IPhone?

Is the Series 4.0 IPhone to be sold in Singapore actually not the G4 operating network IPhone? Or is it just only the 4th generation of the IPhone, and nothing more than that with a few 100 or so new feature upgrades including a better battery life, and video cam plus editing features …etc…?

Too, I here that some of other competitor smart phones may be a tad better than the IPhone, so I suppose one should look closely before throwing their hard earned dollars towards a new IPhone.

  32. Tutor on June 9, 2010 at 9:35 am

i felt kind of being cheated. The iphone 3GS was here just a while ago and it was not cheap, now comes the 4G.

  33. iPhoneLover on June 9, 2010 at 9:39 am

Question is, will the speed of the iPhone 4.0 be faster or the same as iPhone 3GS? Apple is just so freaking smart in coming up with new gadgets in a very short time! If only the iPhone 4.0 is sold at about the same price as the US. Its gonna be so expensive here!

  34. I-M-Crippled-Still on June 9, 2010 at 9:40 am

Yes Aikon. But Apple is smart, with these little “So Call” improvement where a lot of other phone is already having for donkey years, Apple is going to make profit again. And I m talking about the company who is smart not the consumers.

  35. A on June 9, 2010 at 9:41 am

    thats technology.

  36. Kin on June 9, 2010 at 9:44 am

I understand that microsim is the same as normal sim, just smaller.
My question is that whether it will fit in an non-camera phone that uses normal sim.

  37. Hong Lim Zhe on June 9, 2010 at 9:48 am

This Steve Jobs really good at selling recycled products to the “dummies” (quoting the A*STAR guy, who is 100% right). Video calls have been around since the mobile phone stone age but because of his keynote now uninformed Apple fanboys will think Apple invented video calls.

That aside, it’s so cheap in the US… once it enters Singapore it’s gonna cost 2 to 3 times more.

Singapore, our homeland, tio tok until song song.

  38. Sapphire on June 9, 2010 at 9:50 am

how i wish someone can buy the iPhone4 for my birthday…..Im desperate to own it but i cant afford for it…

  39. iPhone Ex User on June 9, 2010 at 9:50 am

iPhone 4.0 = 4th generation iPhone not 4G network.iphone 4 really introduce much more features than previous family members but seriously all those features are already avail in other smartphones too way years before. But cant deny the beautiful screen display it offers! itchy to get one too :-)

  40. iPhone Ex User on June 9, 2010 at 9:51 am

Android the way to go now, esp Android froyo 2.2 hehehee.

  41. C ardo on June 9, 2010 at 9:55 am

    unfortunately!!!!jailbreak not working!!!

  42. MMM on June 9, 2010 at 9:58 am

it’s nt coz they are fast. it coz they know apple fans will buy any / every pdt launched, and felt that it’s high time to “cheat” more $.

  43. so expensive! on June 9, 2010 at 10:01 am

i bet 4g iphone is gonna be much higher than the current price $280.. i hope that 3gs price will go down so that i can afford..

  44. Joan on June 9, 2010 at 10:02 am

    Iphone again

  45. E on June 9, 2010 at 10:04 am

If i am not wrong the only thing need Wi-Fi is just the “FaceTime” and the others should work normally like the 3GS once they update the version 4.

  46. Colvis on June 9, 2010 at 10:04 am

can the mophie case fit this 4GS ?

  47. Colvis on June 9, 2010 at 10:07 am

Singapore telcos have to put inplace all the 4GS network man if not it be like the world cup saga. n all telco will lose clients .

  48. zulkifliz on June 9, 2010 at 10:09 am

Is thata typo error on the article about the price wise?199 and 299 respectively on US currency? Does that price comes with price plan?

  49. Nat_sora on June 9, 2010 at 10:10 am

I doubt ibooks will be available in singapore due to copyright issues and the contracts with the publishers.

  50. Ryan on June 9, 2010 at 10:15 am

    Damn..thats fast..
